History of Burtonsville, Maryland

Burtonsville is a small, unincorporated community located in Montgomery County, Maryland. It was named after Isaac Burton, who owned much of the land in the area during the late 18th century. Historically, Burtonsville served as a rural farming community but grew in prominence as a result of its location along key transportation routes, including U.S. Route 29.
